SLASH PILE

Community Slash Pile

Due to the nature of our unique setting, The Baca Grande is considered an "at-risk community” in a Wildland Urban Interface. Recognizing the enormity of fire danger in our area, and as an active member of NFPA’s Firewise USA, we support and encourage collective efforts to establish a resilient fire adapted community; including, defensible spaces around our homes. To help empower these efforts and reduce the threat of wildfire, we maintain a slash pile for Members wishing to remove branches, tops, and other woody material following mitigation efforts.

The pile is located east of the Association Offices at 68575 County Rd T and adjacent to the treasured Crestone End of Life Project Pyre Site.

The slash pile is regularly maintained and monitored. It is typically burned once per year. So please help us continue this service by dropping off natural material only, thanks!

We deeply appreciate all efforts to establish fire resiliency.

If you’d like more information, additional details, or if you need help removing slash from your property, please reach out to us. We’ll be happy to chat and coordinate removal efforts.
